Donald Trump Is Obviously An Atheist
The Religious Right has been conned by an egomaniac president offering fascism with a Bible he’s visibly unfamiliar holding
Conservative Evangelicals’ culture war zealotry has turned them into the very amoral monsters they have always claimed to be fighting against, and their embrace of Donald Trump — whose family history, personality, business career, and presidency are, fundamentally, the antithesis of the New Testament — deserves to be remembered as the catalyst for the Religious Right’s end of cultural relevance. They idolize an obvious atheist.
Trump is the poster boy of the 7 Deadly Sins, and his ludicrous vanity, con man artistry, and gauche thirst for vengeance makes him a perfect call-back auditioner for the antichrist.
His offensively manufactured and pandering public displays of religious devotion have included flubbing names of Bible books, gassing peaceful protesters for opportunistic photo-ops, and changing the topic in superficial conversations of the Bible to advertise The Art of the Deal, a book whose real author happens to be quite vocal about his opinion that Trump is a “sociopath.”
Many conservative evangelicals excuse Trump’s obvious atheism with a litany of absurd justifications trashed by Trump himself when he has admitted he has never asked God for forgiveness, and he just looks so visibly uncomfortable and awkward when Christians are praying near him. MAGA Evangelicals have chosen partisan political allegiance over Christian righteousness by continuing to campaign for and endorse Trump’s utter void of morality within his political ideology and former administration.
Trump’s primary campaign plank was that foreigners should not be treated as the native among us, which goes against several direct Biblical commands to treat foreigners like family. In the MAGA worldview, Jesus’s teachings make him a globalist libtard communist. The savior of mankind and the Beatitudes have no relevance in Trumpism. The only Biblical values they still cling to are the Old Testament’s values of judgment and fury.
Church and state alike have been betrayed with the MAGA movement’s insistence that the ends of owning the libs justify any means. Trump fans at rallies have worn shirts saying they’d rather be Russian than Democrats, a sentiment quite ubiquitous throughout the GOP, from Republican senators admiring Putin’s military propaganda to GOP officials consistently being arrested for laundering Russian funds and lobbying for Russian interests.
Meanwhile, the MAGA QAnon conspiracy infiltrating Evangelical churches across America is a deranged Tea Party 2.0, trading conservatives’ Obama Era racism masqueraded as fiscal conservatism for a self-destructive paranoia of anyone and everyone not blindly loyal to Donald Trump. Accusing almost every American institution of wrongdoing, the movement leaves no room for anyone, including Republican lawmakers, to escape baseless allegations of treason, murder, and pedophilia.
QAnon peddles almost exclusively false information, conveniently ignoring Trump’s decades of sex crimes both alleged and proven in a court of law by a jury of his peers — not to mention his former bromance with Jeffrey Epstein — to convince MAGA followers of fictitious heroism by Trump against absurd allegations of Democrats eating babies and drinking their blood. QAnon is less Christian than it is coherent, which is quite a feat.
For selling their souls to Trump, MAGA Evangelicals got to own the libs for four years, but the GOP largely sidelined Evangelicals’ social and moral concerns and policy requests while prioritizing the usual secular priorities of tax cuts, deregulation, and corporate interests.
Trump did appoint pro-life Supreme Court justices, who gutted Roe V. Wade at the first opportunity, but nothing expresses the Religious Right’s waning cultural relevance than the fact that Republicans are now losing winnable elections because of their hardline approach to abortion rights.
There’s no other way to read the Trump chapter in American history except that the Religious Right has been conned by an atheist, egomaniac president offering American fascism with a Bible he looks visibly unfamiliar holding, and, to add injury to insult, MAGA Evangelism is making America less religious.
