Elon Musk briefly started bribing voters with million dollar lotteries. Foreign influence is everywhere on social media. Donald Trump and his Republican hangers-on are without a doubt colluding again as Vladimir Putin would spend literally any amount of money on Internet trolls and hacking to help Trump get elected to betray Ukraine and pull the US out of NATO, and Benjamin Netanyahu would love to have a president who doesn’t care about human rights violations. Also, Trump hoarded a whole bunch of top secret documents at his oligarch beach club and is now regularly feting various foreign leaders at Mar-a-Lago for private chats.
About what? He’s not the president. The Logan Act does exist, right? It’s not a Mandela Effect figment of my imagination, is it? And Trump incited a coup attempt to try and overturn our election.
And Musk, who is the biggest government handout welfare queen in US history, is also reportedly having private phone conversations with Putin. Because why not? America apparently has no laws, regulations, or societal norms that rich people have to follow, and there’s nothing Merrick Garland can do to protect against this wannabe oligarchy backing Trump from defrauding our entire country in exchange for tax cuts and fascist gifts of corporate privilege. The mega rich in America are obeying in advance.
Meanwhile, Senator Ron Wyden and Representative Jamie Raskin have called on the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate Jared Kushner for essentially operating as an unregistered foreign agent with his $2 billion Saudi-backed investment fund. Shouldn’t the DOJ have already started that in the last four years? How has it not been confiscated yet when we essentially know Kushner was going around the State Department’s back to help prop up Mohammed bin Salman as a dictator, and give him geopolitical cover over murdering journalists reporting on the corruption.
There are a whole bunch of Republican senators, representatives, and state operatives who were involved in January 6th and the attempt to fraudulently replace several states’ slates of electors, and they’re currently protected by blackout ink, redactions, or names in the style of “co-conspirator 2.” Why do they get to stay in their offices for four years after helping try to strangle America’s democracy? Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley made themselves the poster boys for insurrection, they’re both up for reelection right now. And we know Trump is using back channels right now to prepare for coup 2.0 if he loses.
How in the name of democracy can four years go by with no consequences yet?
Matt Gaetz paid an underaged girl for sex at a drug party six years ago, why the fuck is he still in the House of Representatives? Because he’s a douchey political nepo baby with a rich, connected dad, and rules don’t matter for people like him.
The Justice Department needs a major overhaul to speed up all the processes for holding rich, grifting, dickhead villains of democracy accountable because the system is literally aiding and abetting these criminals by allowing them to delay with impunity all their criminal investigations and trials.
Merrick Garland had four years to protect this national election from the insurrectionist MAGA movement’s fascist and treasonous oligarchy mob boss, and the only conviction against Trump we got was from a New York state indictment for paying serial-sex-offender-esque hush money via election fraud. 🥃
Speaking of institutions failing us, The Washington Post has decided it won’t endorse a president this election. Dave Karpf’s Substack essay, A suggestion for the Washington Post’s new motto: “Obey in Advance, is your assigned reading on American fascism. And buy the Timothy Snyder book it’s based on, I just did and will read it soon!
