Vladimir Putin Is One Of Russia’s Greatest Failures And Losers
Perhaps the only part of Putin’s dictator legacy left to write is whether he’ll shoot himself or be offed in a Kremlin coup.

Vladimir Putin’s hail mary strategy to turn around the war in Ukraine is to flood the frontline with untrained, unequipped draftees to desperately try and slow down the Ukrainian military’s steady advance just long enough for the combination of winter, high European gas prices, and a shifting Republican control of the US Congress to somehow magically fix his dire military situation.
What a sociopathic, unpatriotic plan from Putin, and a tragedy for the thousands of Russian soldiers and draftees who will suffer immensely and die between now and Putin inevitably learning that this is a terrible plan that won’t work. Russian troops are being dropped on the frontline sometimes with few weapons, little ammunition, no medical gear, and Ukrainian units are finding some prisoners of war wearing sweatpants and tennis shoes.
As winter sets in, these virtually abandoned troops are going to lose what little morale they can cling to from bravely serving their nation since the Russian chain of command has literally no respect for their lives. The launch of the invasion in February saw Russian troops waste valuable fuel supplies struggling to keep themselves warm by running their vehicles and tanks for heat (which also made them easily spottable targets in Ukrainian drones’ night vision), and, fast-forward through 8 months of massive Russian losses in materiel, Russian troops are now worse prepared for enduring the winter.
But, unfortunately for Putin, winter is not likely to stop the the Ukrainian advance. Ukrainians have higher morale than ever, and their vehicles and tanks (many gifted to them by fleeing Russian soldiers) can drive across Ukrainian land easier when the ground is frozen compared to the wet autumnal mud.
Russian troops are hastily digging in and forming new defensive lines throughout the Ukrainian lands they’re occupying, but, when these draftees are sitting in foxholes in a blizzard with no boots, winter gear, or ammunition, and reflecting on the lies their government is telling about the war they can blatantly see Ukraine is winning, it would be wise for the Ukrainian military to begin planning for how to deal with mass Russian desertions and surrenders.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has tens of thousands of soldiers currently being trained in England and other NATO countries who will arrive to the frontlines fully outfitted with the latest and greatest military gear, and the magnificent morale that comes from successfully defending their homeland, self-sovereignty, and loved ones from Russian torture, rape, murder, and subjugation.
Again, what a tragedy for the Russian soldiers (except the ones torturing and pillaging Ukraine of course, they can burn in Hell for eternity) caught up in Putin’s egomaniacal attempt at empire and doubling down on a stupid war he bluffed his way into. They are pure cannon fodder against a Ukrainian military that is quickly becoming the world’s most capable army forged in the cauldron of fighting the first major, peer-to-peer war in the 21st Century. Even the US Army will likely be sending soldiers to Ukraine to observe and learn how wars against technologically advanced regional superpowers are successfully waged.
The US is building and equipping a powerful ally in Ukraine, and, in terms of how little money we are sending to Ukraine in proportion to our own massive military budget, the destruction of the Russian war machine is the deal of the century for American national security interests. Putin’s oligarchic economy has been isolated as a pariah state, his military every day is losing tens of millions of dollars in equipment it cannot replace, and Russia will not be a convincing invasion threat for Europe for at least a couple generations.
In contrast, Ukraine is leapfrogging decades of military innovation and development that has surpassed Russia’s capacity to ever fuck with again. With a couple dozen HIMARs, Russia will never be able to stockpile vehicles, supplies, troops, and ammunition on the Ukrainian border while claiming they have no intentions to invade ever again. The US is currently working on the logistics of gifting Ukraine with modern anti-air systems, so Russia will similarly be unable to ever again try to blitz Kiev from the air with jets, helicopters, and airborne troops. And, since now the Ukrainian people are united in their hatred of Russia, the US and the EU have gained a huge, vital ally that completes the incredible NATO border blocking Russia’s supposed sphere of influence out of Eastern Europe from Finland all the way to Turkey.
Once again, I feel awful for all the Russian soldiers (the soldiers not torturing and pillaging) who have died just so Putin could temporarily occupy a little swath of eastern Ukrainian farmland, and will die, because Putin is a dumb, old dictator high on his own Hitlerian supply of delusions of imperial grandeur who won’t cut his losses and admit that he fucked up, and that the legacy he was trying to build as a conquerer is now a legacy of committing one of the biggest geo-political blunders in Russian history.
Perhaps the only part of Putin’s dictator legacy left to write is whether he’ll shoot himself or be offed in a Kremlin coup.
